The Osun State Government has announced plans to recruit medically fit men and women as ad hoc road sweepers to strengthen environmental sanitation across the state.
The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, announced the recruitment in a statement issued in Osogbo on behalf of the Osun State Environmental Sanitation Task Force.
According to the statement, applicants must be at least 30 years old, medically fit and residents of the areas where they intend to work.
The initiative is designed to support routine road sweeping and complement the state government’s efforts to maintain a cleaner and healthier environment.
Osun lists designated areas for recruitment
The government identified several locations where the road sweepers would be deployed.
The designated areas include Akoda-Abere, Ataoja-Ogo-Oluwa, Olaiya-Old Garage, Igbonna-Ayetoro, Power Line-Ota-Efun and Kobongbogboe.
Other locations are Ataoja-Dele Yes Sir, Stadium-Testing Ground, Ilesa Garage, Oke-Fia-Dada Estate, Dele Yes Sir-Lameco and Oroki Housing Estate.
The government advised interested applicants to meet the stated requirements and apply for assignments within their residential areas.
How to apply for Osun road-sweeping jobs
Applicants are required to submit application letters to the General Manager of the Osun Waste Management Agency.
The submission office is located at the former Boreepo House, West By-Pass, Ring Road, Osogbo.
The deadline for applications is Thursday, November 12, 2026. Applicants should ensure their letters are submitted before the closing date.
The announcement did not specify the number of workers to be recruited, the remuneration for the positions or the expected duration of the ad hoc engagement.
Recruitment follows introduction of weekly sanitation
The recruitment comes after Governor Ademola Adeleke approved a compulsory weekly environmental sanitation exercise across Osun State.
The exercise holds every Thursday between 8am and 10am, requiring offices, markets, shopping malls, homes and other public premises to participate in cleaning their surroundings.
The state government said the initiative was intended to address indiscriminate refuse disposal, improve environmental cleanliness and reduce the risk of disease outbreaks.
The road-sweeping recruitment is expected to support these efforts by providing workers for routine cleaning along designated routes.
