Nigerian troops have reportedly neutralised 15 terrorists in a precision air strike near Pulka in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, according to the military.
The operation was carried out at about 11:50 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026, following intelligence reports and sightings of suspected terrorist movements in the area.
Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, disclosed the operation in a statement issued on Saturday.
According to the military, the air strike targeted terrorist movements northwest of Pulka. Ground troops subsequently conducted follow-up operations in the area to consolidate the results of the strike.
The military said the operation formed part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist activities and restrict the movement of armed groups across the North-East.
Military intensifies operations in Borno
Operation Hadin Kai continues to conduct offensive operations against insurgents operating across Borno and other parts of the North-East.
The military said intelligence gathering and coordinated air and ground operations remain central to its efforts to weaken terrorist networks and improve security in affected communities.
Captain Goni urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by reporting suspicious movements and activities through appropriate channels.
However, the military’s reported casualty figure has not been independently verified. Further details about weapons recovered, the identities of those killed and the wider impact of the operation were not provided in the available report.
Security challenges remain in the North-East
Borno State has faced years of insurgency involving Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province, with attacks affecting residents, military personnel and economic activities.
Although military operations have targeted insurgent positions and movements, sustained security remains important for displaced families, farmers, traders and communities seeking to return to normal life.
The latest operation adds to the military’s ongoing campaign against armed groups in the region.
Residents are being urged to provide credible information to security agencies while avoiding the spread of unverified reports that could create confusion or put people at risk.
